Operating Hours are subject to change without notice in the case of inclement weather for the safety of workers and visitors.
Through the TCEQ permit, the Environmental Collection Center's Household Chemical and Electronics Disposal and Reuse is only open Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. City of Frisco Environmental Services cannot accept chemicals or electronics outside of our special hours. Disposing of these items improperly is considered illegal dumping. Please visit our center during the Household Chemical Disposal's hours of operation.
Special Item Recycling
Each special item has its own guidelines, please read and follow the guidelines.
Cardboard
Flatten, remove all debris (including Styrofoam and packing paper), place in the trailer labeled Cardboard Only
.
Composting
TURN offers quick and easy composting every other Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. At $20/month, you can recycle your food waste and reduce emissions from landfills with a Turn bucket. Sign up online to get started.
Donations
Gently used clothing and shoes are collected by Medina Children's Home for reuse.
Household Batteries
Only household batteries (A, AA, AAA, C, D, etc.) batteries go into the receptacle for batteries.
Motor Oil/ Cooking Oil Plastic Grocery Bags Styrofoam
Motor oil can be emptied
into the drum for motor oil.
Cooking oil can be
emptied into the drum for cooking oil.
Use precautions when transporting flammable liquids.
Packaging Styrofoam is collected in the Styrofoam trailer - if the trailer is full or not out, please bring it inside the building.
Styrofoam recycled here is densified for easier transportation on its journey to be recycled.
Lightly used clothing and shoes are collected by Medina Children's Home.
Mixed Recycling
During normal operating hours, the Environmental Collection Center accepts basic, mixed recycling in the painted dumpsters. Mixed recycling is available to the public following the same guidelines as the curbside recycling (blue cart) program in Frisco. Please refer to the Recycle/ Don't Recycle lists for more information.

Used Boxes For Sale
Used cardboard moving boxes are sold at the Environmental Services offices Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm at discounted prices (PDF). Box sales are first come, first serve and the box sizes are subject to change based on what we receive in good condition. We try to restock our warehouse regularly to offer a good selection. All sales are final, please bring a vehicle large enough to accommodate the size and quantity of boxes you plan to purchase.
Household Chemical Disposal
For items that require specialty disposal or recycling please visit our Household Chemical Disposal Center. This program is only offered twice a week (March 1 through September 30) Wednesdays 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (October 1 through February 29) Wednesdays 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Electronics: Computers, Televisions, Computer Accessories, Monitors, Cell phones, Tablets, etc.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW): Paint, Pesticides, Chemicals, Batteries, Light Bulbs, etc.
Metal Appliances: Ovens, Dryers, Washer, Microwaves, Dishwashers, etc.
Appliances with Freon ($40 Freon extraction fee): Refrigerators, Wine Coolers, Water Coolers, Freezers, etc.
Shredding Services
A paper and document shredding service (via a private shredding company) is available for a charge on the second Saturday of each month at the Environmental Collection Center from 8 a.m. until Noon All items are securely shredded on site.
Free Compost (Seasonally)
Lawn trimmings collected from the city's curbside recycling program are made into Texas Pure compost.
Free compost is available seasonally - the first Saturday of the month at the Environmental Collection Center. This compost is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (while supplies last, limit 2 bags per vehicle). To confirm whether or not compost will be available on Saturday, please contact Environmental Services ahead-of-time at 972-292-5900.
